The Department of Foreign Affairs in Australia suggests that extreme caution should be exercised if travelling to Jamaica. Crime, lawlessness and civil unrest is extreme. Should I be worried about personal safety? How will the attending delegates be assured of safety whilst in Jamaica.

Please view this URL by the US Department of State on travel to Jamaica, which is perhaps a more balanced report than the Department of Foreign Affairs in Australia, seeing that there is no embassy or consular for Australia in Jamaica.

The conference will be held on the university grounds of the University of the West Indies, which is safe. There is also campus security presence as well as a police station on Campus. Taxis and transportation are available from the airport to one's destination and can be chartered when persons want to get around.
